Counter height is a measurement question

The phrase “counter height” is useful for browsing, but it is not a guarantee that every stool will fit every kitchen. Benches vary, and product labels can be broad. The reliable method is to measure your own surface and compare it with the seat-height information shown on the item you are considering.

Measure the space beneath the benchtop

Take the floor-to-underside measurement, not just the top height of the bench. Then allow comfortable knee room when comparing a stool’s stated seat height or adjustment range. Also check for low drawers, overhangs, crossbars and footrests that may affect where the stool can sit.

Choose fixed or adjustable with purpose

Fixed-height stools work best where the counter level is settled and repeated seating is wanted. Adjustable designs can give more flexibility, but their usable range and base footprint still need to suit the bench. Use the specification table on each product page as the final check.
